New Baby on Board!!

Well as we were writing our latest blog post, Lisa and Missy found out we have a new baby at our orphanage!  We can't wait to love on her tomorrow...one month old!

Where did we go???

Heelllooooo! Where did we go you may be wondering? Well folks we are in Guatemala and sometimes the internet has a little mind of it's own.  So now we need to catch everybody up on the happenings over here.

Lets begin with Sunday, March 6th, when we got the joy of taking the kiddos to church.  We got to go to "El Shaddai" an Evangelical Church here in Guatemala City.  Our group arrived early so that we could check in all the kids to Sunday school.  Then we went up to our church service which of course was in spanish.  The worship was great and some of us even got headphones in order to hear the service translated into English.

                                                    
  
Later on that day, we had a blast just playing with the kids outside.  There were snacks, water fun, and silly games.  Then we got the privledge of bathing them, putting them in pjs, and overall just getting them ready for bed.  It was the best, these kids are seriously precious.

Monday began for us while it was still dark.  We loaded the van with donations, pinatas, and a few personal belongings and made the 3 hour"ish" trip to the highlands.  In Panajachel, we picked up a doctor and nurse who work out of a mobile clinic to help the local Guatemalans.  Then we made the final part of our journey to a small, rural school for the Mayan children.  They were BEYOND excited to see us arrive! As our van was driving in, the set off fireworks for us and loudly cheering for us. Once stepping out of our van they quickly ushered us to sit down because they couldn't wait to show us their prepared performance!

Next was time for the pinatas, which they had NEVER seen.  Excitement filled the school and they couldn't wait to get their chance at taking a swing at it.  While they waited we passed out stickers and silly bands and loved on the kids and their parents.  Our team of nurses (Missy, Kaley, Lisa and nurse for the day Irene) and the doctor and nurse from Panajachel, all had the opportunity to give parasite treatments for the children of the school.  Its great being able to see the kids get treatment in hopes of preventing disease.  Finally, our team was able to present the school with all of the wonderful school supply donations.  Oh, to see the joy on those kids faces!  The overwhelming feeling we all had was the desire to give more and do more because we saw the little thing we did made such a huge impact.  Our minds are wondering of the ways we can continue to bless them.

As many of us always say, "It's the small things in life..."  To see them giggle over getting a sticker put on their forehead and to see them figure out what shape their silly bands are that they just received, was the highlight of the day for us.   We continue to love every minute of being down here.  Thank you again for all of your prayers!  Tomorrow we are headed to an outside orphanage run by the government...we are definitely preparing our hearts for this experience and cannot wait to share His love to the teen moms and the orphans there.
